The National Aphasia Association
(https://www.aphasia.org/) – The National Aphasia Association is a non-profit organization with the goal of getting readers in touch with research, education, rehabilitation, therapeutic and advocacy services. The website provides a compendium of resources for professionals, caregivers and people with aphasia.
Pacific Stroke Association
(https://pacificstrokeassociation.org/) – The Pacific Stroke Organization is a non-profit organization that has been serving Santa Clara and San Mateo counties since 1998. The Pacific Stroke Organization has resources for caregivers and people with aphasia such as events, support groups, and educational articles.
The American Stroke Association
(https://www.strokeassociation.org/) – The American Stroke Association has resources for stroke survivors, caregivers, and support group leaders. The American Stroke Association has a page dedicated to helping individuals find resources in the local area.
Virtual Connections for Aphasia
(https://virtualconnections.aphasia.com/) – Virtual Connections is a free program that offers daily Zoom calls for people with aphasia and caregivers. Sessions focus on conversation, social connection, and quality of life. Virtual Connections is not a speech therapy program, but rather virtual conversation and support groups for people with aphasia and caregivers.

Local Bay Area (often virtual options are available as well)
Always Active
(www.alwaysactive.org) – Free exercise classes offered at senior centers around San Francisco – includes general exercise & fall prevention exercise classes both in-person and on Zoom. Dr. Christian Thompson, one of the developers of the APEX program, was a co-founder of this program in 2007. Not specific to stroke survivors but can be adapted to one’s current functional abilities.
Adaptive Physical Education classes
(https://www.adaptivepevmsc.org/index.php) – Exercise classes in Redwood City for senior adults of all ability levels with physical disabilities or health limitations, including stroke survivors. A monthly fee of $50 provides access to both in-person classes and all Zoom classes.
Cal State East Bay Aphasia Treatment Program Exercise group (https://www.csueastbay.edu/slhs/clinic/atp.html) – Will need to enroll in the clinic, but one can choose to just join the exercise group if interested. In-person on Monday, online Tu/Th. Online sessions are free, in-person requires a $50 per semester materials fee.
Stepping Stone
(https://www.steppingstonehealth.org/join-our-program/) – Four Adult Day Health centers around San Francisco. Offering a variety of classes, including physical exercise. Most services are usually covered by insurance.

Pacific Stroke Association Educational Forums
(https://pacificstrokeassociation.org/educational-forums/) – Offered second and third Fridays of the month at 10:30 AM (none in May). Sessions begin with an exercise session hosted either by Cal State East Bay students or TRCare. Currently all online. Free.
Seated Yoga for Aphasia
(https://aphasia.org/series/seated-yoga-for-aphasia/) – Hosted by the National Aphasia Association and District Adaptive Yoga on the 3rd Wednesday of every month online at 7 PM ET (4 PM PST). Free.
Virtual Connections for Aphasia
(https://virtualconnections.aphasia.com/) – Offers various online communication and activity-focused groups. Recurring exercise sessions include “Strong and Fit,” “Speaking in Stride: an Aphasia Running Club,” and “Mindfulness and Meditation.” Pre-registration is required, but all sessions are free.
